Mobile market

A new report fro IDATE claims that the telecom services have expanded to an unprecedented scale by the support of the mobile services that is responsible for generating a bulk of profits. The total revenue is estimated at approximately $616 billion in 2006. It is an obvious fact that such a scale of mobile market has become possible only because of the expansion of the subscriber’s base. It passed the $3 billion mark in 2005 itself and by the end of 2006; the number of mobile customers in the world touched the figure of 2.6 billion. So far as the market for 3G handset is concerned, in 2006, was somewhere near 8 million units. It is expected that by 2010, the 3G market will occupy, 19.2% of the total Business 3G  market.

As far as the commercialization of one of its technology, UTMS, is concerned, 2005 was a big year. By the end of 2006, the technology grew to reach 45 million customers i.e. touching the subscriber’s base at 170% with expected the expected growth of the subscriber’s base at 130%. Apart from the Japan, Europe and Italian market became the popular market for Business 3G.

The market for CDMA EV-DO, a type of 3G technology is emerging though it has failed to touch the standards of UTMS. South Korea is a prospective market for this technology. Thus, it is an apparent truth that the 3G market is slowly emerging and promises to establish a big prospect in the market, so far its demand is concerned.
